Uttar Pradesh once again gets an acting Director General of Police, after the retirement of Dr D S Chauhan today.

Yogi Government appointed Dr R K Vishwakarma as the new Chief, his term as DGP will be over in May 2023 with this retirement. Dr Vishwakarma is 1988 Batch IPS Officer he was Director General of the Police recruitment Board.

DR.RAJ KR. VISHWAKARMA is a Mechanical Engineer and also holds a PhD Degree and hails from Jaunpur UP.

Bigger Question here is when will the UP Government send list to UPSC for appointment of regular DGP, or the state will run in hands of acting DGP even after May as there are many senior IPS Officers who are retiring in 2023, as per set rules Government has to recommend names of Senior IPS Officers who have atleast 6 months left before the retirement.

There are rumors that Dr D S Chauhan may again be appointed as Consultant Security for Uttar Pradesh soon.
